Design optimization of permanent magnetic actuator for vacuum circuit breaker by response surface method

This paper presents design optimization of permanent magnetic actuator (PMA). Design optimization is performed by response surface method (RSM) for minimizing the volume of permanent magnets. To analyze the dynamic characteristic of PMA accurately, the circuit equations are coupled with finite element method. The results such as forces and displacements characteristics in the initial model and the optimized model are compared.
