Integrated active rectifier and power quality compensator

This paper describes a 3-phase integrated active rectifier and shunt power quality compensator (IPQC). The IPQC functions as a conventional active rectifier while improving the harmonic contents of the supply current, displacement power factor and supply current balance for a number of loads at a point of common coupling. The IPQC concept is verified experimentally using a 3-phase IGBT inverter. The inverter is controlled using a low-cost fixed-point digital signal processor and a fixed band hysteresis current regulator.
