Study on Active Control of High-speed-train Pantographs

One of the main problems limiting train speed raising is the contact oscillation between the pantograph and the catenary. Stiffness of two kinds of curves is fitted by using the non-linear least square method and a unified fitting formula is presented in this paper. A 3-D model of the pantograph-catenary is established. The optimal control strategy is adopted to actively control the contact forces between the pantograph and catenary under the conditions of different train velocities. Simulations show that this active control method can reduce fluctuations of the contact forces and the control effect is fairly good.
