Message-Driven Three-Dimensional Lightweight Computer Supported Cooperative Design(CSCD) System

Existing three-dimensional(3D) computer supported cooperative design(CSCD) tools heavily depend on third-party data management platforms,which is difficult to meet increasing requirements of cooperative communications between small-and-medium-size enterprises.Thus,a three-dimensional lightweight,independently running CSCD system called Co-Viewer is developed to solve the problem.Its architecture and key implementation techniques are presented.Based on lightweight 3D product format,important system modules,such as remote model control,annotation,redlining,conference information recording,and real-time playback,are provided in the form of cooperative conference.Meanwhile,with XML message-driven mechanism,cooperative operations and message handling are separated,which solves the problem of real-time communication of cooperation design in the cross-platform,Internet environment.An illustrative example is presented to show the application and effectiveness of the proposed system.
