Improving the mechanical tolerances and radiation performance of shorted patches

In this paper we have investigated techniques to improve the overall performance of shorted microstrip patch antennas. Problems with mechanical tolerances and high H-plane cross-polarized fields have been addressed and solutions proposed which can alleviate these drawbacks.
