AN AMELANOTIC MELANOMA TRANSFORMED INTO MELANOTIC MELANOMA WITH DEVELOPMENT OF VITILIGO

A case of a 77‐year‐old woman with metastatic melanoma and vitiligo‐like leukoderma is reported. The primary lesion had been excised 8 years previously. It had the histologic features of amelanotic melanoma. Metastatic lesions were also amelanotic. Vitiligo‐like leukoderma was noted distant from the cutaneous tumors. The tumors were responsive to a combined regimen of DTIC, ACNU and vincristine and became pigmented after treatment. The relationship between the development of melanized melanoma and chemotherapy is discussed.
