Equipment to Monitor Field Energy Requirements

ABSTRACT EQUIPMENT was developed to monitor factors perti-nent to the input and expenditure of energy during agricultural field operations. Measured parameters in-clude fuel consumption, engine speed, forward travel speed, torque and angular velocity of rear axles, and the three orthogonal components of force between the trac-tor and implement. Output from the various transducers was recorded on magnetic tape using a 16-channel data-logger. Performance during calibration tests and pre-liminary runs was satisfactory.
