This paper presents a finite element model of a navigation buoy moored with a synthetic fiber rope. The effects of cable stiffness, internal damping, gravity and viscous drag as well as currents and propagating waves are included in this model. The computer implementation of the model and associated numerical results are also presented and compared to field data.
