Reference Currents Reconfiguration of a Five-Phase Flux Switching Machine To Improve the Operation under Short-Circuit Phase Faults

In this paper, a new topology of a five-phase flux switching machine is presented. Its behaviour (torque quality, copper losses, homopolar current) under a single short-circuit phase fault, a two and three consecutive and non-consecutive phases short-circuited, is simulated on a FE model and validated experimentally. Then, a new method was developed to improve its performances in faulty mode, by reconfiguring healthy currents.
