Twigs, Sequences and the Temporal Constitution of Predicates

L'A. presente une etude sur l'influence du type de reference du SN objet dans la constitution temporelle du predicat verbal en anglais : la composition aspectuelle. A partir d'une opposition du type 1. John drank wine for an hour' vs 2. ??John draw a bottle of wine for an hour', l'A. explique ce phenomene par la presence d'un predicat quantifie en 2. Cette etude s'appuie sur le modele theorique de la composition aspectuelle developpe par M. Krifka dont il discute les limites notamment par rapport aux analyses quantificationnelles des complements introduits par for'. Il etend son analyse a 1. des SNs indefinis de la forme an N', some Ns' en se basant sur l'analyse de Kamp-Heim, 2. des SNs quantifies de la forme most Ns', less than half of the Ns', more than one quarter of the Ns', etc.
