Path loss model for wireless narrowband communication near biological tissue

This paper discusses path loss measurements and simulatio ns between two half wavelength dipoles near biological tissue . An empirical path loss model for wireless communication above brain and muscle tissue, taking both distance and antenna height above the medium int o account, is presented. The model shows excellent agreement with the m easurements and simulations and is valid for antenna heights up to 5 cm andfor distances up to 40 cm. For antennas placed closely to the medium, it was f ound that the antenna height has a major influence on the path loss.
