Final state interactions in the (nuclear) FRITIOF string interaction scenario

We consider the final state reinteraction of the produced hadrons in a scenario with the initial high energy nuclear interaction provided by the FRITIOF Model. The basic idea is that any produced hadron is able to reinteract in accordance with the known cross sections (using classical trajectories for the motion and an impact parameter description of the interaction) from the Landau- Pomeranchuk formation time and onwards. This is treated as a rescattering transport process included in a Monte Carlo simulation subroutine, LUCIAE, to be connected to the FRITI0F, the ARIADNE, PYTHIA and the JETSET programs. We include a set of predictions, in particular on strangeness production, from the ensuing model.
