40 Gbit/s transmission over 434 km standard-fiber using polarisation independent mid-span spectral inversion

We report on 40 Gbit/s transmission over 434 km of standard fiber using polarisation insensitive mid-span spectral inversion based on a polarisation diversity scheme with four-wave mixing in two semiconductor optical amplifiers.
