Video transcoding optimization method using correlation of subjective and objective video quality assessment

Disclosed is a video transcoding optimization for minimizing video quality degradation which a user recognizes using a correlation between subjective and objective video quality assessment. The video transcoding method may comprise the following steps of: calculating a quantification index which indicates a gray intensity variation between two frames made by coding video content with different bitrates; eliciting a correlation between the quantification index and a video quality assessment index by comparing the quantification index to the video quality assessment index indicating that a video quality difference between scenes coded with different bitrates is quantified through subjective scoring; and performing transcoding of new video content to be serviced using the correlation between the quantification index and the video quality assessment index.
