Geometrically Nonlinear Adapting Rectangular Plate Element

In this paper the adapting rectangular element is introduced to analyze the large deflection of elastic thin plate. Based on the bending displacement functions of the adapting rectangular plate element,geometrically nonlinear adapting rectangular plate element is formulated. It is proved by theory that the element is perfect and C 1 stage continuous. The C 1 continuity problem of geometrically nonlinear adapting rectangular thin plate elements is solved. In order to validate the correctness of the geometrically nonlinear adapting rectangular plate element, the large deflection behavior of a clamped and simple supported square plate under uniform load is analyzed in this paper. The result calculated by the adapting element proves that the geometrically nonlinear adapting element features simple formulation,accuracy and convergence.
