New low-speed high-torque permanent magnet synchronous machine with buried magnets

A new low torque ripple, low-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor design with buried inclined magnets is introduced. A low-speed permanent magnet motor has to produce smooth torque, in order to be competitive with other motor types. The cogging torque of the permanent magnet motor introduced is very low and the torque ripple due to stator harmonics may be reduced considerably with suitably shaped rotor pole surfaces and flux controllers.
