An independent investigation into the commercial opportunities afforded by CDMA

This paper examines the technology of code division multiple access (CDMA) and more specifically its modern incarnation-IS-95, and assesses the likelihood of its take-up as a major mobile communications standard. The differences in the implementation of IS-95 and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) are examined rather than the technical differences. Also the prospect of IS-95 being used on a world-wide scale is discussed.
