A probabilistic analysis of the impact of electrical vehicles in a shopping center phase unbalance

In general, Electric Vehicles (EVs) are considered as an alternative for the conventional combustion vehicles. Besides, EVs can assist on the solution of some distribution systems problems. The utilization of EVs to reduce the unbalance of three-phase systems is an example of this contribution. However, if a large amount of EVs is inadequately connected to the grid, the outcomes can be the opposite of expected; in other words, the EVs might contribute to the unbalance, as it was demonstrated on previous studies. On the other hand, when the charging of the EVs is coordinated in order to distribute the load among the phases of the system, the EVs can contribute to reduce the voltage unbalance. Thus, the objective of this paper is to verify through a probabilistic analysis how EVs can assist on the reduction of voltage unbalance problems in Shopping Centers.
