Analysis and Diagnosis of Thermal Problems in Large Hydrogenerator Stator Caused by Row Insulation Fault

In this paper, mathematical model and physical model of stator 3D temperature field of large hydrogenerator were established firstly. Then boundary conditions and assumptions were given. Also the fluid field calculation model was given. The fluid distribution inside ventilation ducts was computed using finite volume method (FVM). Each surface heat transfer coefficient of solved region was gained. On the above basis, the stator temperature fields were calculated using finite element method (FEM) when row insulations were fault, the effect of heat transfer coefficient on temperature field were analysed, and some useful results were got, which offer some certain basis for machine designers and power plant operators.
