Anterior maxillary osteotomy in dental treatment.

Recent advances in technique have made surgical orthodontics a practical dental treatment for Class II, as well as Class III, malocclusion. One successful surgical orthodontic procedure, the anterior maxillary osteotomy, permits the movement of the anterior maxilla after the premolars have been removed and the bone sectioned. Our experience with 24 anterior maxillary osteotomies at the University of Kentucky indicates a definite place for this procedure in dental treatment.
