Simulation of Vehicle System Dynamics, State of the Art and Ongoing Developments

Abstract This paper presents the state of the art of modelling and simulation of mechatronic vehicle systems. The request for modelling capabilities, the tools to assist the modelling process and, in particular, multibody and bond graph tools will be examined. The demands for solvers and post-processing tools will be discussed. For the evaluation of these tools, examples of applications of vehicle system dynamics are given in the railway and automotive fields.
