The research and the engineering demonstration of particles agglomeration in phase transition process improving the collection efficiency of WESP

A new technique for impelling the agglomeration of fine particles in the phase transition process of water vapor is proposed for the first time in this paper, taking advantage of the high humidity of flue gas from the wet desulfurization process. An equipment named PAPT, running behind the desulfurization tower, was developed based on this technique. The equipment has been applied to engineering application, working with the WESP for PM collection of a 660 MW ultra-supercritical unit in China. Experiments were carried out to investigate the performance of the wet dust removal system and the PAPT itself. The results indicate that the particles increase significantly in size through the PAPT, and this equipment itself can collect particles efficiently. The collection efficiency of the system increases markedly with the PAPT on, comparing with the WESP running alone.
