Energy Transfer and Upconversion in Yb:Er:YAG

Energy transfer and upconversion have been measured in Yb:Er:YAG. The net Yb-Er transfer efficiency is fairly high, but strong Yb-Er upconversion limits the its usefulness as a laser material.
