Cultural diversity in instructional design for technology-based education

The article presents a research which discusses the cultural diversity in instructional design for technology-based education. The research suggests barriers encountered in implementing technology in the classroom exist on a national, school, teacher, and computer level. The main barrier that schools face in using technology effectively in the classroom is cultural lag. The second barrier to the effective use of technology in the classroom concerns teacher attitudes. The author stated that as educators explore ways to enhance the learning potential for all students, it becomes clear that some populations of students have different needs that will have to be addressed if they are to increase their chances of benefiting from technology.
