Holding time aware multicast requests provisioning algorithm for dynamic optical circuit switched (DOCS) networks

Now-a-days applications like video distribution of social events, live coverage of sports, e-learning and HDTV have become quite popular. The varying bandwidth needs of these applications have made network resource management a challenge for service providers. To make efficient use of optical networks under these conditions various algorithms have been proposed and developed. In this paper we have proposed an algorithm for provisioning multicast (point to multipoint (P2MP)) applications. Our algorithm utilizes the connection duration/holding time information of the request for solving routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem. We have done so by integrating our approach with existing approach known as Delay constrained Shortest Path (DCSP) algorithm. Our simulation results show an increase by 60% as compared to DCSP for On-Demand case.
