PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for segmenting a medical image are provided to obtain the optimum 3D segmentation volume by determining the optimum segmentation seed according to the kind of lesion. CONSTITUTION: Location information of a pointer is extracted according to the input of a user(S120). The kind of a lesion shown in a slice medical image is determined(S150). A segmentation region including the location of the pointer is determined by performing a predetermined segmentation algorithm according to the kind of the lesion(S160).
