ECRIS development for an on line isotopic separator at GANIL

We plan to use the high‐energy heavy ion beams provided by the GANIL facility to produce exotic beams using the on line isotopic separator approach. We will use an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source as ionizer. ECR ion sources show very good ionization efficiency and give high‐charged states independently of the ion species. For future applications of exotic nuclei, we plan to post‐accelerate them, so it would be very interesting to obtain high‐charge states directly from the ion source of the isotopic separator with high ionization efficiency.
