A study on web-based English autonomous learning of non-English major students

Researches into the web-based autonomous English learning have been conducted in China for many years and many researches have come out in this field. This paper aims to present the results of a study on web-based learning of non-English major students. 125 Chinese undergraduate students were asked to report their learning motivations, learning styles and view on teachers' roles. The findings of the study reveal that Chinese students are insufficiently motivated to take full control of their autonomous language learning. Based on the findings, some pedagogical implications are given to improve web-based autonomous English learning.
