MRI-Compliant Linear Piezo Micro-Motors for Medical Implants and Robotic Surgery Applications

MRI scanners are becoming widely available around the world. The possibilities offered by such apparatus need adapted tools, compatible with the strong magnetic field of the scanner. The proposed work presents a new nonmagnetic miniature piezo motor capable to work into MRI scanner without disturbing the acquired image. Its small size makes it a good candidate for MRI-guided surgery or even for embedded or implanted tasks.
