Active Suspension System for Railway Vehicles – System Design and Kinematics

Abstract This paper presents a fully active suspension system for railway vehicles, employed with the New Railway System Paderborn. While previously published works gave an overview of the system and the overall control structure, this paper will focus on the technical details of the suspension system in a vehicle. Special emphasis is laid on the kinematic structure of the system, which features a spatial four-bar parallel manipulator as linkage system.
