Inter Disc Fault Simulation in Transformer Windings

Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) is a tool that can give information about winding as well as core deformation due to the mechanical movement in transformers. This analysis done by performing an offline test after making shutdown of a transformer. In this measurement a low voltage signal that varies in frequency applied to the transformer winding then took down the response to graphical from. This graphical representation is directly related to its internal resistive, capacitive and inductive elements. Which is directly related to the physical formation of the transformer and insulation system used in transformer. Variations in frequency response show a physical modification inside transformer, the reason for modification in FRA wants to be acknowledged and examined. Transformer health monitoring is important to consistent process of power system. Frequency response analysis (FRA) can play an important role in this purpose. This paper simulates and analyzes faults from top to bottom in single disc and 5% winding disc. The frequency responses from demonstrated fault cases are compared with reference frequency response obtain from healthy winding. The change in frequency response has been noticed in the form of first resonance frequency and impedance at that resonance frequency. This change in SFRA leads to find the exact location of faults with transformer winding.
