An improved linear sampling method for location and shape reconstruction of 3D buried targets

This paper deals with the problem of reconstructing the geometrical features of 3D targets embedded in a lossy medium. Referring to the Linear Sampling Method, which is attractive due to its computational efficiency, we propose an improved formulation of it, which is able to provide an effective reconstruction of the deeper part of the investigated region. Moreover, the frequency diversity is exploited to obtain accurate shape reconstructions when the transmitting and receiving antennas are located on a narrow grid and a single- polarization of the scattered field is measured.
