Performance verification of SEDC equipment for damping multimodal SSR

The supplementary excitation damping controller (SEDC) has been proven to be one of the most economical and convenient measures for damping of subsynchronous resonance (SSR). SEDC is a supplementary function of regular excitation system. It is necessary to verify the performance of SEDC equipment before field test. In this paper, a verification method and results of one practical SEDC equipment are introduced. Firstly, frequency characteristics of SEDC's discrete mathematics model are tested by using dynamic signal analyzer. Then this paper uses real time digital simulator (RTDS) to build a series-compensated transmission system with real engineering background, and conducts time-domain simulation studies on performance of SEDC under disturbance.
