Geographic distribution of mosquitoes (Diptera, Culicidae) in eastern Fennoscandia

UTRIO, PIRKKA: Geographic distribution of mosquitoes (Diptera, Culicidae) in Eastern Fennoscandia. -- Notulae Entomol. 59:105--123. 1979. The geographic distribution of mosquitoes in Eastern Fennoscandia (Finland and NW USSR) is presented according to the available literature, material in the Zoological Museum, Helsinki (about I 400 exx.), and other recently collected unpublished material (about 19 000 exx.). The distribution of the species in Finland is mapped according to the European UTM Grid system with squares of about 50X50 km, and the distribution in the NW USSR is defined in terms of three main areas: the Leningrad region, Karelian ASSR and Murmansk region. Altogether 41 species are included (38 in Finland and 37 in NW USSR).
