Accuracy and Precision Improvement for the Biochemistry Assays by Using an Automatic Ultrasonic Cleaning System

Biochemistry is the blood science that is responsible with the study of the chemical reactions in the living organisms. It evaluates the molecules enrolled in the homeostatic processes and the metabolic pathways of the nutrients inside the living cells. The results obtained by performing the biochemistry assays offer a complete overhaul information about the state of the body. In order to ensure that the results of the assays are precise and accurate according to the real clinical state of the patient, the measurement errors must be minimized. This paper presents an original prototype of an automatic ultrasonic cleaning system for the reaction cuvettes of a biochemistry analyzer. This is a low-cost and reliable system that will help to reduce the interferences between successive samples performed in the same cuvette after it has been repeatedly cleaned using 40 kHz ultrasonic oscillations transmitted to the washing station’s probes. The measurements are compared to the results obtained with the conventional cleaning procedure. This novel system reduces the measurement errors by eliminating the residual waste of the reagent and sample mix from the cuvettes that can falsely increase the absorbance of the analyzed samples, improving the transmittance and the life of the sample cuvettes.
