Chemical injection remedial treatment for rising damp—II. Calculation of injection times

Abstract This paper presents an analysis of the displacement processes by which pore water is replaced by damp proofing fluid during injection. The analysis enables the time of injection for satisfactory damp proofing to be calculated from a knowledge of the basic parameters defining the permeability and porosity of the masonry material being treated. Experimental results are presented which verify the general validity of the analytical model. These experiments were carried out using two types of damp proofing fluid: one was an aqueous solution of sodium methyl siliconate and the other an organic solvent solution of polyoxo-aluminum stearate.
