This chapter is a tutorial, with the aim of examining the ways in which asynchronous collaboration is able to benefit universities. In order to do this, we first examine the functions of a university, then look at the basic tools and techniques of asynchronous collaboration before bringing these together to show which functions of a university are susceptible to support using asynchronous systems.
