The application of Monte Carlo simulation in national assessment of mineral resources

Monte Carlo simulation is a kind of stochastic process.It is through producing time series,calculating parameters estimation and statistics that the distribution features are studied.The application of Monte Carlo simulation can be used to predict the quantity of the target area in assessment of mineral resources by means of sampling simulation of the distribution feature of discovered deposit quantity,the prerequisites of which is that the target area has the same deposit style as the discovered deposits.The paper discusses the principle of Monte Carlo simulation,brief the method of building tonnage-grade model and analyze the differences of different assessment method with the example of the ocean volcanic iron of Xin Jiang in national assessment of mineral resources.Not only it can simulate and estimate the quantity of the tract,but wso can simulate some parameters,like trust level,which is difficult to build precise mathematics model with fairly reasonable statistical result.
