In this paper, based on structural characteristic of an aqueduct with pile foundation, a lumped spring model is employed to simulate soil-structure interaction. Shell-beam ele- ment model is employed to simulate the aqueduct body, which considers structural characteristics of traversal bending-twisting vibration, restraint twisting deformation of the aqueduct body with open-shell structure. The aqueduct braces are meshed into spatial beam element. This pa- per presents dynamic equations of the large aqueduct. The differences of mode and the seismic response between with and without consideration of soil-structure interaction are calcu- lated it is concluded that the interaction will make some effect on modes and seismic response of the aqueduct, however, the effect is not important. It is not necessary that the effect of the soil-structure interaction is considered for seismic analysis of large aqueducts.
