A Review of Simplex Optimization in Analytical Chemistry

I. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this review is to summarize in a critical way some of the specific analytical chemical applications of sequential simplex methods of optimization. Although the sequential simplex is a powerful tool for carrying out both linear and nonlinear least-squares fits of models to data, these and other numerical applications will not be considered in this review. Instead, the review will be limited to those applications in which the response being optimized must be determined by actual experiment.
