Demand Response Program Implementation Practices In Korea

Abstract The Smart Grid requires the innovation of the traditional Demand-Side Management programs. Korea has first launched its demand response pilot programs in 2008 to tackle and improve classical load management programs. Over a couple of years since the first implementation of the demand response program, Korea demand response markets have been successfully established and operated. In this paper, the basic features of Korea demand response market design are provided with key market performances for the past a couple of years, and several implications for better implementations of demand response programs are also explored.
