P‐25: The Relationship between Pixel Density and Readability on Computer Displays ‐ Effectiveness of an Anti‐aliased Font on a High Density LCD ‐

A human factors' experiment involving 67 subjects was carried out to investigate the effects of pixel density on character legibility and readability on computer displays. Five displays with different pixel densities were used, including a “204 ppi” LCD monitor. A bi-level font and an anti-aliased font were used in this study. We examined the effectiveness of the anti-aliased font for the higher density LCD.
