The increasing importance of environmental protection and occupational health and safety takes the noise of screw compressors in the center of attention. The reduction of these noise emissions accordingly influences the requirements in design and construction of screw compressors. A major part of the noise source can be described by the gas dynamics of the working fluid in the discharge area and pipes connected to the screw compressor.
