THE PLASTIC WAVE MYTH

“Plastic Waves” do not exist because plastic flow is an entirely dissipative process. The terminology and theory of them arose historically because the time resolutions and stiffnesses of early test methods were not adequate to follow the true course of plastic flow. This inappropriate concept should have been abandoned some decades ago. It is now an anachronism.
