The Analysis of One Generator-tripping Accident Caused by Fault in Excitation System

As one of the essential components for generator unit,the automatic excitation system had played very important role in guaranteeing generator safety and power grid stability.An accident of generator trip caused by fault in excitation system had been introduced in this paper.The process and causation of accident had been found through the analysis on the history data of relay protection system,fault recording system and the tests on-site.Besides,some feasible suggestion had been proposed based on the thorough checking and data analyzing.The conclusion of this paper is that,any problem found in the whole course of excitation system,including function design,equipment assembling and daily maintenance,should never be ignored or negligible.
