power converter for a rotary electric machine

a power converter is provided for a rotary electric machine which is designed to ensure a desired length of a duration of current flywheel during which allows current to be freewheeling of the rotary electric machine even if the power converter is in a transitional state or is subject to unexpected change. The power converter is equipped with a control unit and a switching circuit which is disposed between a power supply and windings of the rotary electric machine. The switching circuit has switches grouped into an upper arm and a lower arm. The control unit operative to control a switch of one of the stop operation of one of the upper arm and the lower arm so as to produce a desired length of the current-on time of the flywheel after stopping one of the switches, thereby minimizing loss of recovery and avoiding the current return of the power supply to the windings.
