Nitrate Motion and Dielectric Losses in Nickel Hexammine Nitrate

Dielectric measurements on [Ni(NH3)6](NO3)2 from 50 to 300 K at audio, radio and microwave frequencies show that the NO3- ions reorient faster than 1.5 × 1010Hz in a face centered cubic structure above 246 K. This motion is frozen in a simple cubic structure below 240 K. Dielectric losses and hysteresis are also associated with lower temperature structural phase transitions.
