Application of Hill-Climbing Control Algorithm in Yaw Control System for Wind Power Generation Sets

In order to carry out yaw control accurately, a hill-climbing control (HCC) algorithm based on power detection is proposed. By means of searching maximmum generated power, the optimal yaw of wind trubine is detemined. The proposed algorithm possesses following advantages: high accuracy of yaw control, good real-time performance, convenient for implementation of software and needing not wind direction sensor. The detection approach of generated power and key parameters in HCC algorithm are described emphatically, and the flow chart of HCC algorithm is given, besides, the model of wind turbine generation unit is built. Simulation results show that the proposed HCC algorithm is feasible and effective and by which the yaw control accuracy can be improved.
