인도네시아 선급 (BKI)과 한국 선급 (KR)간 국제협력

Based on the Presidential Instruction No. 5 of 2005 concerning the Empowerment of the shipping industries and followed by Shipping Law No. 17/2008, Indonesia has implemented and adopted the cabotage principle. Cabotage principle allows only locally registered vessels (Indonesian-flag vessels) to transport domestic passengers and cargo within Indonesian waters. Those maritime laws open more opportunities to Indonesian ship owners to expand their business by increasing ship numbers for their fleets. Consequently, the demand of shipbuilding and ship repair increase gradually. However, the capability of Indonesian shipyards to provide better services with good quality is inadequate because of technical limitations. It causes Indonesian shipyards are less productive than shipyards in neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia. Meanwhile and China, national classification society has weakness in R&D related ship matters and relevant technical capability to support shipyards. Consequently, Indonesian shipbuilding industry eager to develop its capacity for improving its productivity. In addition, national classification society would like to enhance technical solutions for shipyards and other maritime stakeholders in the maritime safety and environment. Therefore, We propose Republic of Korea to transfer technology for development of the capacity for shipbuilding industry by supporting the Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) and related stakeholders in Indonesia through the "KOICA project".
