Weathering the Weather

Recent wet weather in the southern and western United States has been challenging for wood crosstie manufacturers and wood-treatment companies, who had to deal with waterlogged wood supplies and delayed orders. As weather conditions have improved, businesses have been getting back on track, filling orders and replenishing inventories. The supply of raw materials is increasing, and wood-treatment processes are improving. Railroads are planning ahead and placing orders earlier, in the event that wet weather damages dry wood supplies.
